Virginia Roses

We tried to transplant some Virginia roses with limited success. Some of them have new growth but it seems that most of them have died. But the hedge itself is doing great, and you can see in the closeup many buds that will be beautiful and fragrant roses in a few weeks.

Bristly Rose or Swamp Rose

Wildflowers

We are testing an area where we have planted some red clover to see if we can use that instead of grass as a ground cover. We also have many beautiful wildflowers that grow on our land, especially on the rock out front. All I have to do is park the weed whacker – it’s a great excuse for being lazy!

Spirea

We have a baby oak tree growing from an acorn we harvested from my daughter Michelle’s and her husband Bronson’s property in Fredericton, NB. Also, I don’t think they are native plants, but we have two spirea bushes growing on our property. The Beginning

The first thing we did last winter was to make a table with wood that was only taking up space in our storage area. With the Covid 19 scare, we didn’t want to go to the store for lumber just for a project like this.
